“We went from the horrible experience of having our HVAC system fail in the midst of a heat wave, to the delightful experience of meeting the A&E team. From my first call for help I felt like I would get the priority service I was hoping to for, but knew I had no right to expect.
After my call, it began with the very prompt visit to our home by Karin. In addition to being very thorough, knowledgeable and professional, she gave the impression that my situation was the most important thing she would deal with all day. From my personal perspective, she was right. You should know that yours was not the lowest bid I received but I felt it was the one that best fit all of my needs.
Then there was Ron & David. What a team! They showed up at my home promptly at 8AM and immediately took charge. In stifling heat, they worked straight through till almost 3, without a break. Then, after a short lunch, they hurried back and finally left my house at 7:48PM. Andrew came out and inspected our heat pump and furnace and determined repairing them would be more costly in the long run than replacing both. We had expected that scenario. By the way Andrew was at the front end of an 8 - 10 window, very punctual. We now are awaiting an estimator to tell us what we need and quote costs. I am impressed so far.
This is the 2nd installation we have had performed by A&E for two Min-Split systems.They showed up on time completed the job the same day. Consistently Outstanding Service: One of the drawbacks to living in rural areas is getting timely and competent service professionals. A&E and the entire Team (office, repair and installers) are simply outstanding to work with. Our HVAC system is complicated and has been beset with problems in the past (not sold to us or installed by A&E). A&E stepped up and has provided positive solutions and great service. We have a winter home away from the Gorge and had to call upon A&E for emergency service from afar. They took care of the problem promptly at a reasonable cost. They are our go-to contractor for all our HVAC needs. Strongly recommend Andy and the entire A&E organization.

I found the company very responsive -- they had a technician (Andrew) out the day I called to troubleshoot the problem. Andrew was professional in every sense of the word! He was able to quickly ascertain the problem and the solution, but was also timely, friendly and conscientious! I think A&E is the great example of "you get what you pay for" ... they're worth it!

Flat rate diagnostic fee of $280 for a repair that already had a known cause and the needed part number on a unit that was installed by them and still under warranty is a bit ridiculous
John Pike did an inspection and service of you heater and heat pump. John determined that the heater needed to have the heating element limit switch replaced, the existing switch was only allowing one of the three heating elements to turn on. With the new switch the air temp in the house comes up to the set temperature much faster.John was knowledgeable and efficient.

I was charged $290 for them to come to my house and relight the pilot light on my furnace. I think if anyone were to look at this invoice they can see the price gouging going on with this company. My land lady has tried to contact the company 3 times with no response. See attached picture of the invoice. The service persons time in the house was 20min. I only have one other device that uses gas and its my hot water heater that he did not look at or need to look at. The charge for re-lighting the pilot light is outrageous. The furnace is old but works fine. They also charged $12 for environmental disposal of parts. No parts were disposed of. I have since found out that the local gas company will come out and relight your pilot light for free. I hope this is helpful for other people with a similar problem. I do not recommend this company.

I cannot recommend A&E enough! They installed a new heating system in our home addition, and helped us switch the rest of our house from old baseboard heating to new mini-splits. John was one of the most helpful professionals I have ever worked with- he explained everything in detail and spent lots of time on the phone and in person answering our questions and making sure everything was perfect. The technicians- Tyler and crew- were incredibly considerate, courteous and professional. Having them working in our home was an easy, pleasant, frustration-free experience, unlike various other service companies we have worked with in the past. Thank you, A&E!
Price quoted was thousands of dollars higher than the 4 other bids received.
Service tech was cordial and knowledgeable. I do have to call BS on the $12 environmental fee. I have been in business a VERY long time and can clearly see a revenue stream attachment to billing. While some jobs may and do in fact require special handlings me sometimes disposal of parts charging EVERY single customer the fee weather the particular job has parts or not is a revenue stream pure and simple. While It’s not A&E’s fault by any means that my system has ceased functioning and it’s not the amount ($12) for me it’s the principle and even more so in these times. At an average of $90 an hour or more for a tech and an almost $180 minimum charge to look / diagnose tacking on the extra lil bit is just a grab and would be considered a revenue stream of its own. Nor was this charge discussed when I was given the initial diagnostic cost by the dispatcher which was clear. I’ve read the reviews where this charge was attempted to be justified and I would say save the explanation as I am not that new. Again it’s a principal matter more than the amount.Again regardless of the response like most “surcharges” it’s a revenue stream. Define it as you wish but to me it was an undisclosed surcharge that I am sure adds up and is viewed as a revenue stream regardless how you like to present it.In short it means you’re charging everyone to offset other jobs that require handling of said materials. Why should I contribute to those other jobs? See that’s the part that makes it a bs revenue stream. All that was used in my case was a meter and a philips screw driver. NOTHING ELSE. You say it’s an average to offset your expenses. Why not make the charge a line item for the actual cost that a job requires rather than charging everyone to help pay these fees for other clients ? Why because like most “surcharges” it’s a revenue stream and it isn’t disclosed until the bill is presented.

Their service was prompt. They showed up when they said they would. That’s about where the positive ends. They charge a $110 diagnosis fee that covers none of the repair even if it’s simple. None of the diagnosis applies toward any repair or labor.When the same issue came up again two weeks later, they returned and charged another diagnosis fee ($110) and replaced a part that should have been replaced the first time. The installation was less than 20 minutes and was billed out for $316 for installing a $25 pressure switch. I called the company inquiring about this extortionate rate on such a small repair and they stood by their work and billing. Would not recommend.

Temperature is improving
A&E were the most courteous men to work with. The area where they had to put in a unit was in a very busy ( meaning crowded) working glass studio. They were able to safely maneuver around all the stuff and successfully install the mini split
Everything was really good except I just felt that almost $200 for a job that took about 45 minutes to do seemed a bit expensive. Just my opinion, however, I would use and recommend A&E again. Otherwise, it would’ve been five stars.
Andrew came out to inspect the heating pump since it hasn't been checked in a while. He was extremely helpful when explaining what I needed and was fully knowledgeable to answer any questions that I had regarding Heating and AC. I also love the text message intergration. I recieved a text as a reminder of the date and time of appointment, when andrew was on his way, and his information with a picture so you know who's coming. Also, when I called in, I think her name was Emily, she was so sweet and we had a good laugh. However for future customers, be sure to note that it might be a little expensive, but definitely worth it. As a customer, you have a choice if you want the technician to fix the issues, so you're never going to spend money on something you don't want. Overall, I was quite impressed with A&E heating and air.

Mr. Swettenam arrived at 9:30 (within the two hour window I was told to expect him in). He was here for about an hour. He diagnosed and replaced a capacitor and a relay in my heat pump and recommended my coils be cleaned. He estimated the cost of the repairs before doing them at just under $800 without cleaning the coils. He was professional, had a great sense of humor and did a good job. The flat rate pricing the company is using is a joke, however, and not very funny. The capacitor he replaced, can be had on amazon for $10 and the rely for about $50. They charged over three hundred for each. I know there is overhead, and a fancy red van with advertising on it and expensive radio ads, but seriously $800 bucks for an hour's worth of work and $100 in parts. That's just ludicrous. I won't be calling them back for repairs. Just too expensive.
